Assam rolls out biggest-ever DBT scheme

Guwahati, Dec 1 (UNI) The biggest direct benefit transfer scheme of Assam, ‘Orunodoi’ scheme, was launched by Chief Minister Sarbananada Sonowal here on Tuesday.
The scheme has been rolled out with over 17 lakh families as beneficiaries at present, under which the government would transfer Rs 830 per month to the account of one of the female members of the family under the scheme.
After the election of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), the number of beneficiaries would increase to 22 lakh families and the state government would need Rs 2400 crore every year for the scheme.
