Assam prepares for mass quarantine; training more medical staff

Guwahati, Mar 26 (UNI) The Assam government is constructing temporary facilities for quarantine of suspected COVID 19 cases, while it will also be training final year MBBS and nursing students for COVID 19 treatment protocol to deal with any eventuality caused by the pandemic in the state.
Addressing a press conference after reviewing progress of construction of a quarantine facility at Sarusajai sports complex here today, state Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “This 1000 capacity quarantine facility will be ready within one week. It will be used to keep family members of patients who test positive for COVID 19.”
Moreover, another 1000-bedded facility could be constructed at Nehru Stadium in the city, while four other hospitals with 300 capacity each are being converted into COVID 19 treatment facilities, besides the government medical colleges and hospitals being made dedicated COVID 19 facilities, the minister said.
