Guwahati, May 23 (UNI) The COVID 19 positive tally in Assam has crossed the 300 mark with 60 new cases detected in the state so far today, taking the tally to 319.
State Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma informed through Twitter that all the new patients are in quarantine.
He wrote: "Fifty three new COVID 19+ cases confirmed - 44 from Sarusajai Quarantine Centre, 7 from Dima Hasoa district and 2 from Cachar."
Earlier today, seven other people were found to be COVID 19 positive.
Six of them are from Hojai but were in Sarusajai quarantine centre, and one is from Dhubri but in quarantine.
Out of the 319 positive cases in the state, 54 have recovered and four others have died so far.
With people returning from outside the state, the state government had cautioned of rise in COVID 19 positive cases, making quarantine mandatory for all returnees.
