Palembang, Aug 24 (UNI) Indian tennis player Rohan Bopanna and Divij Sharan won gold in men's doubles in the 18th Asian Games with a 2-0 win against Kazakhstan pair on Friday.
The duo Bopanna and Divij got the first gold in the men's tennis tournament in 52 minutes, defeating Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik and Denis Yevseyev in straight sets 6-3, 6-4.
This was India’s sixth Gold and 22nd medal in the competition.
The Kazakhs had the faster legs between the two pairs but the Indians had the experience to negate that.
Bopanna and Sharan had reached the final after beating Japan’s Uesugi K and Shimabukuro S 4-6, 6-3, 10-8 on Thursday in a nervy tie-breaker.
