Jakarta, Aug 23 (UNI) PV Sindhu cruised into round 16 on Thursday in the 18th Asian Games by defeating Vietnamese player in the women's singles event of badminton competition, While in the women's doubles pair Ashwini Ponappa and N Sikki Reddy also won in their respective matches in round 32.
Olympic gold medallist PV Sindhu fought hard with Vietnam player Vietnam’s Vu Thi Trang to book a berth in round 16. She won the match 21-10, 12-21, 23-21 in 58 minutes.
Sindhu won two game points in the first game while three match points in the third game. She took a lead of highest 11-point match. In the second game, Vu returned in the game with 21-12 points, but Indian shuttler won the match.
In the women's doubles pair of Ashwini and N Sikki won 2-0 against Wing Yung NG and Yeung NGA from Hong Kong. The Indian pair went on to win 21-16, 21-15 in 32 minutes and entered into round 16.
