Jakarta, Sep 1 (UNI) India's Amit Panghal clinched gold medal in the men's 49kg category, after beating the Olympic champions Hasanboy Dusmatov at the 18th Asian Games held here on Saturday.
The young boxer from Haryana defeated Olympic champion Uzbekistan's Hasanboy Dusmatov 3-2 in a tough match to win the biggest battle of his career.
Panghal's tremendous footwork and smart boxing brought him a gold medal in the second round.
He landed some good punches in the second round ends. He kept Hasanboy at bay here in the final, and also made sure to put pressure on his opponent by landing correct punches.
This is India's second medal in boxing at the 18th Asian Games. Earlier, Vikas Krishnan won a bronze medal in the weight of 75 kg.
