Asiad: Bhavani Devi misses out on winning first medal in fencing for India

Hangzhou, Sep 26 (UNI) India’s top fencer Bhavani Devi missed out on winning first medal in fencing for the country at the Asian Games 2023 after losing to the People’s Republic of China’s Shao Yaqi in the quarterfinals of the women’s sabre fencing event here on Tuesday.
Ranked 32nd in the world, Bhavani lost her quarterfinal bout to the world No. 12 Chinese fencer 15-7 at the Hangzhou Dianzi University Gymnasium.
Earlier, Bhavani earned the top seed in the knockouts after coming out of the pool stage unscathed with five consecutive wins.
