Manila, Feb 15 (UNI) Youth sensation Lakshya Sen's magical win over Jonatan Christie went in vain as the Indian men's badminton team went down 2-3 to defending champions Indonesia in the semifinals to settle for a bronze at the Asia Team Championships, here on Saturday.
India were without former world no 1 Kidambi Srikanth or HS Prannoy going into the match with the pair leaving for the Spain Masters. World Championship bronze medallist Sai Praneeth had to retire midway through the opening match against Anthony Ginting, thus giving Indonesia a 1-0 lead.
However, world No 31 Lakshya produced a clinical performance to register a sensational 21-18 22-20 win over world no 7 Jonatan in the second singles to keep India in the hunt.
