Asia-Pacific Group including Pak backs India at UNSC; Germany bats for Perma-Seat

United Nations, Jun 26 (UNI) Even as Germany advocates a permanent seat for India at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the 55-member strong Asia-Pacific Groups, in a significant diplomatic move, has supported India's candidature for a non-permanent seat at the UNSC.
Elections for five non-permanent members of the 15-nation Council for the 2021-22 term will be held around June next year.
The UN Security Council has five permanent members with veto power -- US, UK, China, France, and Russia.
