New Delhi, Sep 18 (UNI) Shikhar Dhawan smashed century, as India set a target of 286 runs against Hong Kong in their opening match of six-nation Asia cup on Tuesday at Dubai in UAE.
Hong Kong captain Anshuman Rath won the toss and asked India to bat first.
India got off to a good start as the opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and captain Rohit Sharma put on 45 runs. Rohit was dismissed for 23 runs by Eshan Khan. Then, Ambati Rayudu and Shikhar Dhwan stitched together a partnership of 116 runs for the second wicket. Dhawan scored 127 to become first player from India to score a ton in UAE since 2000- Sachin Tendulkar was the last Indian to do so. He was dismissed by Kinchit Shah.
MS Dhoni came at No. five and did not disturb the scorer, his innings lasted for three balls.
He was dismissed by Ehsan Khan. Kedar Jadhav (28 not out) remained unbeaten throughout the innings, helping India to score crucial runs in the death overs. Second high scorer was Raydu with 60 runs and Dinesh Karthik also scored crucial 33 runs. Kinchit Shah took three wickets in his nine over, he considered 39 runs.
