As three Indian seafarers killed, India again summons US Charge d'Affaires, lodges 'strong protest'

New Delhi, Jun 12 (UNI) India on Friday summoned the US Charge d'Affaires Jason Meeks again to lodge New Delhi's "strong protest" against continuing attacks on commercial vessels carrying Indian mariners off the coast of Oman which has claimed the lives of three Indian seafarers.
In a statement, the Ministry of External Affairs conveyed its deep concern over the use of lethal and deadly force against civilian shipping, and termed such actions as "unacceptable and undermine the safety, security and stability of international maritime commerce in a sensitive region at a difficult time".
The diplomatic action came after the MEA confirmed that three Indian seafarers were killed following a targeted strike by US forces on the Palau-flagged oil tanker MT Settebello.
