As all eyes on counting of votes, BJP talking about 100-day agenda of 'new Govt'

New Delhi, May 23 (UNI) Even as the stage is set for counting of votes for the general elections to the 17th Lok Sabha, the mood is of confidence in the BJP camp and early reports suggest its sombre with parties like Trinamool Congress, which faces a tough contest against the saffron outfit in West Bengal.
BJP sources said the confidence is reflected in the fact that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has directed senior officials in various ministries to prepare a 100-day agenda essentially to increase credit growth and consolidation in the banking sector.
The NDA regime had presented an interim Budget and thus the final budget 2019-20 would be expected to lay emphasis on improving direct and indirect tax collection.
The Finance Ministry has been asked to take up issues like simplification of tax procedures and also other changes in tax slab or tax rates as far as income tax is concerned.
Sources said consolidation in the banking sector would be another area of focus.
On the political front, the party leaders have already started talking about pursuing the BJP's well known stance on much discussed issues like Art 370 for Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior leaders such as Ram Madhav has said that those who have pro-India sentiment in the Valley need to be protected.
Jammu and Kashmir based parties National Conference and PDP had demanded assembly elections in the state along with the parliamentary polls.
The northern state is under President's Rule.
National Conference has also demanded that even after Lok Sabha polls - state assembly elections should be held at the earliest.
In the north east, the focus would be on the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill, which the BJP has promised especially in the context of the electorate in West Bengal but has been strongly resisted in Assam and other northeastern states.
BJP sources admit that even as parliamentary polls have come to end, the priority vis-a-vis electoral politics would soon shift to Maharashtra, Haryana and Jharkhand where assembly polls are due by the year end.
The confidence in the ruling camp was also reflected in the fact that the government officials have started seeking names of journalists from media organisations who will be covering the swearing in ceremony of the new dispensation.
