Itanagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Arunachal Pradesh recorded its fifth Covid-19 fatality while 95 more people have tested positive, taking the state’s tally to 2607.
A 55-year-old man from Namsai died from acute respiratory distress syndrome due to Covid-19 at 0400 hours on Friday early morning, a senior Health official said.
The deceased developed fever and respiratory distress from August 11. He was admitted to District Hospital Namsai on August 13 and from there he was shifted to Tezu Zonal Hospital after he developed severe respiratory distress. He expired on Friday early morning, State Surveillance Officer L Jampa said.
The 55-year-old was buried in Namsai by the district administration, he added.
Of the 95 new positive cases, 44 were reported from West Kameng, nine each from East Siang and Changlang, eight from Itanagar Capital Complex, five from Namsai, three each from Lower Siang, Tawang and Lower Dibang Valley, two each from West Siang, Upper Subansiri and Lohit, one each from Anjaw, East Kameng, Papum Pare, Tirap and Upper Siang, as per the bulletin issued by the state Directorate of Health Services (DHS).
Twenty-seven out of the 44 cases from West Kameng are Central Para-Military Forces (CPMF) personnel while 16 are primary contacts of positive case detected earlier and one is a returnee from Assam.
All the cases from East Siang are CPMF personnel detected in quarantine facility. Five out of the nine cases from Changlang are also CPMF personnel.
Of eight cases from Itanagar Capital Complex, five were detected at Banderdewa check gate, two reported from paid quarantine testing centre here and one from TRIHMS, Naharlagun.
Barring seven, all are asymptomatic cases.
As per the bulletin issued by the DHS last night, 32 Covid-19 patients were discharged following their recovery from the virus.
Of the 32 discharged, 13 were from Itanagar Capital Complex, seven from Tawang, six from Changalang, three from Namsai, one each from East Kameng, Papum Pare and West Kameng.
A total of 2607 Covid-19 cases have been reported so far in Arunachal Pradesh out of which active cases stands at 852, discharged 1750 and five deaths.
