Arunachal Guv, CM , Speaker extend Independence Day greetings

Itanagar, Aug 15 (UNI) Arunachal Padesh Governor Brig (Retd) BD Mishra, Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Assembly Speaker PD Sona today greeted the people of the state on the occasion of 74th Independence day.
In his message the Governor said, “I join my brothers and sisters in paying homage to our freedom fighters and patriots, who sacrificed their life for the cause of Indian Independence. We pay our rich tributes to Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi, and numerous other freedom fighters across the Country. It was on account of their struggle and sacrifices that we got freedom from the British domination on 15 th August 1947.”
He called upon the people, political leaders, public servants, academicians, youth and civil society of Arunachal Pradesh to put their heads and hands together to ensure transparency and honesty in the developmental efforts of the state Government.
“We must by all means support our defence and the para-military forces, who are guarding our borders, against all odds. Our full support must also be there for our Police Forces and the Administration in fighting militancy, terrorism, and anti-social elements disturbing the peace and tranquillity in the state,” the Governor said.
On this important Day, I also exhort all Arunachalees to get united in fighting the deadly Covid-19 and defeat it, he said.
Chief Minister Pema Khandu in his message wrote, "My dear sisters , brothers and fellow citizens of Arunachal Pradesh greetings on the occasion of 74th Independence Day!."
Extending his greetings to the people of the state, Arunachal Pradesh Assembly Speaker PD Sona urged them to work collectively towards building a modern, developed and progressive nation.
“As we celebrate our inspiring journey of freedom today, let us pay tributes to our valiant freedom fighters whose love for their motherland and sacrifices made it possible,” the Speaker said in his message.
Urging everyone to work collectively towards building a modern, developed and progressive nation, he said, “As a citizen of India, it is our duty and responsibility to treasure this hard earned freedom and work hard to make India a great and self reliant nation.”
The Speaker also extended heartfelt gratitude to all the frontline workers especially healthcare workers, sanitary workers, police and paramilitary forces, bank staff and all others involved in the fight against global pandemic Covid-19.
