Arunachal celebrates ‘Har Ghar Jal’ success

Itanagar, Mar 2 (UNI) The Arunachal Pradesh Government on Saturday celebrated the Har Ghar Jal – a milestone achieved by the hilly state by providing piped water connection to all households under the Union Jal Shakti Ministry’s Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM).
Attending the event here, Chief Minister Pema Khandu said “when intentions are honest, achievements are guaranteed”, while congratulating the Public Health Engineering Department on achieving the stupendous milestone of hundred percent saturation in implementation of JJM program launched by the Centre in 2019.
Arunachal Pradesh has become the first state in the North East to achieve this remarkable feat and overall, 10th in the country.

Vigilance along border in run-up to election in Meghalaya

Shillong, April 15 (UNI) Vigilance by the police and paramilitary forces has been mounted along the Meghalaya-Assam inter-state boundary and the international border that the state shares with neighbouring Bangladesh in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections, scheduled for April 19.
Meanwhile, in a significant joint operation conducted on Monday, the troops of BSF Meghalaya Frontier and Meghalaya Police seized a huge quantity of dry betel nuts from the bordering area of the South Garo Hills district of the state.

Odisha: Man sentenced to 10 years RI for raping a married women

Kendrapara (Odisha), Apr 16 (UNI) Ad-hoc Additional Session Judge (Fast Track Special Court), Tribikram Keshari Chinhara on Tuesday sentenced a man to 10 years of Rigorous Imprisonment (RI) and imposed a fine amount of Rs 31,000 for raping a married woman.
