Arunachal Airport work will start soon: Jitendra Singh

Itanagar, Sep 28 (UNI) Union Minister of State for DoNER Dr Jitendra Singh today
said work for the proposed green field airport in state capital will be started very
soon.
He hoped that the pending issues will be resolved in a short time and possibly
the foundation for the new airport will be laid in December 2018.
Mr Singh informed this while addressing the inaugural session of Arunanchal
Pradesh Transformational Aspirational Leadership (ATAL ) Conclave here.
Dr Singh said the long pending airport project was delayed due to unresolved
land acquisition issues which was cleared and now there should not be looking
back, an official release said.
He said projects worth 3000 crore are going on in Arunachal Pradesh under
DoNER and NEC.
To supplement these projects Mr. Singh also announced an extra grant of
Rs. 228 crore for the state.
The Minister underlined that connectivity is a crucial issue in the region and
the DoNER Ministry is committed for every possible help to overcome it.
He also mentioned that the huge potential and resources of the North East
region was not utilised for long as the then governments did not realize the
importance of equitable growth of every region.
Dr. Singh said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has visited thirty times to
North east region in last four years and this shows the commitment and
prioritisation he has given to this part of the country.
Speaking on this occasion Chief Minister Pema Khandu remembered late
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and said he had given recognisition to
North eastern states through the establishment of DoNER.
He expressed his gratitude that several initiatives were taken for the
development of north-east including Aruanchal in last four years under the
leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The ATAL Conclave is a youth’s conclave being organized by the
Government of Arunachal Pradesh.
The three day conclave will see participation of 1000 youths of the state
in the age group of 18 to 30 years. The aim of this conclave is to create a
platform for the youth to share their idea and directly take part in the policy
making process, it added.
