Around 3980 quarters of illicit liquor seized in Delhi

New Delhi, Apr 23(UNI) Keeping in view the elections and the vigil on the border entry points in the national capital, Delhi Police on Tuesday seized around 3980 quarters of illicit liquor at Jharoda picket.
According to police, the vehicle intercepted in the najafgarh area was a mini tempo which had covered the liquor cartons with a layer of scrap material to evade from police checking, however the highly alert staff on intensive checking found the hidden illicit liquor.
During further investigation it was revealed that the vehicle carrying the illegal liquor was with fake registration plates.
The bootlegger caught by the police revealed that with the upcoming elections, there was demand of such Indian made illicit liquor and he was getting it from Haryana.
Accordingly, a case was registered by the police under appropriate sections.
The police team, who caught the consignment was from police station Baba Hari Das Nagar comprising of ASI Ram Chandar, HC Anoop and others, while the overall supervision was under SHO PS BHD Nagar.
