New Delhi, Mar 30 (UNI) Around 200 persons were on Monday taken to different hospitals for coronavirus testing from the Tableegi Jamat Markaz in the Nizamuddin area of South East Delhi, after six people were tested positive for the virus in the same area.
Around 200 persons staying at the Markaz Mosque are being suspected to be infected from COVID-19 , as they are suffering from issues like, cold, cough, congestion and others.
Meanwhile the police has cordoned off the area and is also monitoring the situation and people's movements
with the use of drones.
Around 2000 people were present at the Markaz prior to the lockdown, while some had left for different states.
Those who were there at the Markaz and left, out of these six people were found to be COVID-19 positive, while one person had died, who's report is yet to come.
Teams of Delhi Police, Health Department and WHO are jointly working to take people out from the Markaz.
According to a police official, even before the lockdown was announced, it had been advised to the people here to disperse the crowds and practice social distancing, however, people did pay heed to their requests.
Majority of the people staying here are above 60 years of age.
According to a local resident, around 200 hundred persons have been taken for the COVID-19 checkup in different hospitals, and the areas around the Markaj have been sealed.
The people admitted for the test are from countries including Bangladesh, Srilanka, Afghanistan, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, England and other nations, in total amounting to around 100 foreign antionals.
