Jammu, Feb 16 (UNI) An Army officer on Saturday attained martyrdom while neutralising an Improvised Explosive Device along the Line of Control in Nowshera sector of Rajouri district in Jammu and Kashmir.
“At about 1500 hours on Saturday, during sanitisation of track in Naushera Sector, mines were detected on the track,” Jammu based defence spokesman here said.
He said that Major Chitresh Singh Bisht leading the Bomb Disposal Team defused one of the mines successfully, adding, “while neutralizing another mine, the device got activated and the officer suffered grievous injuries and attained martyrdom”.
Maj Chitresh Singh Bisht, 31, belonged to Dehradun, Uttarakhand and is survived by his parents.
Maj Chitresh Singh Bisht was a brave and sincere soldier. The nation will always remain indebted to him for the supreme sacrifice and devotion to duty, said the spokesman.
