Army offers olive branch to Railways to clear track after derailment

Lucknow, Dec 24 (UNI) The Railways had to call the Army for restoration of rail traffic on the busy Lucknow-Bareilly rail route, which was disrupted since Saturday evening, following derailment of 20 wagons of a goods train near Baghuali station in Hardoi district.
A Defence statement said here on Monday that based on the request by the civil administration, the Army on December 22 mobilised two columns of Army personnel, along with heavy recovery vehicles, at the site of the derailed goods train near Baghauli Railway Station in Hardoi.
Pressed into service at the wee hours of December 23, even the heavy fog, limited visibility and dipping temperatures did not deter the Army columns, which worked tirelessly throughout day and night, successfully restoring the up and down lines, resulting in resumption of services.
