Apex court slams AAP govt plans for free travel for women on Metro

New Delhi, Sep 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court on Friday slammed the proposal of the Delhi Government to allow women free rides on Metro trains, noting that it should properly utilise public money and refrain from giving free sops.
"Why free ride for anyone? Who will bear the losses then?" a division bench, headed by Justice Arun Mishra observed, while hearing a petition filed by social activist Mahesh Chandra Mehta on the expansion of metro projects plan and especially for its upcoming fourth phase.
The apex court asked the Aam Aadmi Party dispensation to utilise the public money judiciously and cautiously, or else be prepared to face the losses, it may bear in future.
