AP with huge hydro potential will become main exporter of power in country: Union Minister

Itanagar, Dec 3 (UNI) Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy, Raj Kumar Singh, while referring to the huge hydropower potential of Arunachal Pradesh, on Friday said that the frontier state will become the main exporter of power in the country and the power sector will enhance the state’s GDP by 2-3 times in days to come.
The Union Minister said this while reviewing the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) for the North Eastern States with the Power Ministers of NE States at Guwahati, Assam, official sources said here.
Sharma informed that the work progress of two units (500 MW) of the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project, located on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, is also going well and it is expected to be completed by August 2022. Moreover, all the ‘hurdles’ in connection with the 3000 MW Dibang Multipurpose Project have been resolved, he said.
