AP : Three-member FUEL delegation visits Sri City

Sri City, Nov 26 (UNI) A three member delegation from Friends Union for Energizing Lives (FUEL), a non-profit organisation with the goal of giving the country's youth access to crucial information about career opportunities, paid a visit to Sri City in Andhra Pradesh.

Mr Ketan Deshpande, the organisation's Founder and CEO, led the delegation.
The delegation also included Santosh Huralikoppi, Chief Mentor and Mr Bajiprabhu Deshpande, Vice President, Operations, a release said on Saturday.

In his briefing on FUEL, Ketan Deshpande said, "We wanted to witness and learn first-hand about Sri City, which is the home of over 200 industries from various countries, and explore the possibility of establishing a university for skill development with various corporate social responsibility (CSR) partnerships”.

Explaining about the proposed university, Santosh Huralikoppi said,“The University model is based on German Cooperative University, in which 50 per cent of the time the student undergoes practical hands-on learning with industry partners and the balance 50 per cent on academic curriculum.
Besides offering Job Skill training, the university will extend placement support to the students.”

Founder and Managing Director of Sri City, Dr. Ravindra Sannareddy, commented on FUEL's proposal, saying, "It is very encouraging to note FUEL is proposing to give a very good opportunity to the youth in the state, and particularly the rural youth, to sharpen their skills. This initiative would expand the employment opportunities for local youth, who already make up a sizeable portion of the employees.”

“With the presence of prestigious higher educational institutions like Krea University, IFMR Graduate School of Business and IIIT, Sri City emerged as home for Education as well. We feel happy to welcome yet another institution -FUEL,” Dr. Ravindra said.

The FUEL team visited Krea University and had a discussion with the Vice Chancellor Prof Nirmala Rao.

The Pune based FUEL works with Large corporate partners in areas of futures skills and education and has cumulative outreach of over 1 million youth with the support of global corporations and foundations under CSR / Sustainability.

In terms of skill development, FUEL up-skills the youth for jobs and helps them find a better future. A few of FUEL's partners are Citibank, Standard Chartered, HSBC, Shell, LinkedIn, Dell, HDFC Bank, BPCL, Coal India, Hero Motocorp, Honda, Castrol - British Petroleum, Cap Gemini, Yes Bank, and many more.
FUEL has set up a SkillTech and Entrepreneurship University in Pune, last year. The organisation has been bestowed with numerous prestigious awards and accolades, the release added.
