Amaravati, Jan 22 (UNI) The Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government suffered a major blow on Wednesday night as the AP Legislative Council decided to send the crucial bills--“The Andhra Pradesh Decentralisation and The Inclusive Development of All the Regions Bill 2020 and the AP Capital Regional Development Authority Repeal Bill 2020- to the ‘Selective committee’.
After acrimonious debates on the bills, Legislative Council Chairman Council Chairman M A Sharif, under Rule No 154, referred the two bills to the ‘Select Committee’.
The Select Committee can take three months of time to study and return the bill to the Council Chairman with its report.
Earlier, dramatic scenes were witnessed in the 58 member Legislative Council, where the TDP has 28 members.
Significantly, unlike in the Assembly, ministers and YSRCP councils were seen rushing to the podium many times and arguing with the chairman during the day long debate.
As the decision of Council Chairman referring the two crucial bills, including three capitals bill, the 28 villagers in the capital region, who have been agitating against the shifting capital city for the last 36 days came to streets with joy.
TDP national president former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu rushed to Mandadam village where he was accorded a warm welcome by the villagers.
Meanwhile, Finance minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy alleged that the Legislative Council chairman acted on behest of Chandrababu Naidu. He claimed that the chairman admitted that he had committed mister by referring the bills to the Select committee.
TDP Floor leader in Legislative Council made it clear that Council chairman has discretionary power to send the bills to 'Select Committee'. It may be mentioned here that the Legislative Assembly passed the two bills on January 20.
