Amaravati, Sep 11 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Minister for Agriculture Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said in the Assembly on Tuesday that the state government is implementing majority of the Swaminathan commission recommendations and is committed to the welfare of farmers.
Replying to a questions from members in the house, the minister said as per the Swaminathan commission recommendations the Central government has to fix the MSP for paddy at Rs. 2,823 per quintal but it fixed the rate at Rs.1,750. The Andhra Pradesh government proposed Rs.3,472 per quintal for paddy but the centre fixed the MSP at Rs.1,750.
Likewise the state government recommended maize price at Rs.2,823 per quintal and Jowar at Rs.2,932 per quintal and the Central government fixed the MSP for both the products at Rs.1,750.
