AP govt failed to take remedial measures to prevent suicides of farmers : Lokesh alleges

Vijayawada, Jan 20 (UNI) Telugu Desam Party National General Secretary and former Minister Nara Lokesh on Wednesday slammed the Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy headed government for 'not taking remedial measures' to prevent the suicides of farmers on account of rising debts and failure of crops.
Mr. Lokesh expressed concern over how tenant farmer Katta Lakshminarayana ended his life at Chandarlapadu in Krishna district and left behind a letter narrating his woes. The tenant farmer happened to be a sympathiser and supporter of the ruling YSRCP, Mr Lokesh said.
In a statement here, Mr Lokesh deplored that though over 753 farmers have committed suicides, the YSRCP government was not taking any steps to prevent this crisis. The anti-farmers policies of the Jagan Mohan Reddy's regime have been causing all this distress among the cultivators.
