AP CM ends fast, slams Centre

Vijayawada Apr 20 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief N Chandrababu Naidu ended his 12-hours long hunger strike “Dharma Porata Deeksha” at around 7 PM, after taking lime juice, given by some children, in the IGM stadium here on Friday.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister regretted that he had never imagined that he had to observe hunger strike on his Birthday resenting Prime Minister’s attitude towards Andhra Pradesh. He claimed that he had observed hunger strike not as an individual but on behalf of five crore people of the state in protest against the denial of Special Category Status (SCS) to AP.
Stating that lack of SCS would not slowdown the progress of the state, the Chief Minister claimed that the SCS is the right of the state and he vowed to continue his “ceaseless struggle” against the Centre till the SCS is granted to AP. “We are not relaying on the “mercy” of the Centre. We demand the Centre to grant whatever due to the state”, he said.
