Anyone who writes on films on social media is not a film critic: Etami Borjan

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 10 (UNI) Croatian film critic Etami Borjan dwelt upon the different ways of interpreting cinema today and emphasized that anyone who writes on films on social media is not a film critic. He was speaking at a session on ‘Film criticism in the new age’ at the Open Forum organized as part of the 24th IFFK, here on Tuesday.
The session, moderated by Sladiya Sen, included eminent film critics from across the world such as Nachum Mochiah from Israel, Etami Borjan from Croatia, Sadia Khalid from Bangladesh and Madhu Eravankara and G P Ramachandran from India.
Etami Borjan spoke about the need for free and open access to film journals on cinema. The system wherein a small literate community handles academic discourses should change and the knowledge on cinema must be accessible to all, he added.
