Any self-sustainable public transport system can't depend on subsidies completely: DMRC MD

Chandigarh, Oct 12 (UNI) Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) Managing Director Mangu Singh said on Friday that any self-sustainable public transport system like Delhi Metro cannot depend on subsidies completely as subsidy can only give a short term relief in the fare revision but, it affects the self-sustainable model of a public transport system.
Mr Singh, who has contributed significantly in the project implementation of Metro in Delhi and Kolkata, was addressing the students in JC Bose University of Science and Technology, YMCA Faridabad on the topic ‘Metro as sustainable urban transport’.
On being asked about the fare revision of Delhi Metro by a student during the interaction, the DMRC MD said that the fare of Delhi Metro was revised in the year 2017 after the gap of eight years as the last fare revision was done in 2009.
