New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Congress Member Ranjeet Ranjan today accused that within days of BJP coming to power in Uttar Pradesh, there are already instances of discrimination against minorities and other social groups. The charge was vehemently denied by Home Minister Rajnath Singh, who asserted that the BJP-led regime in the northern state will function effectively and will strictly adhere to the principle of 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' (With all and Development for all). However, the Home Minister skirted any direct response on the issue of 'anti-romeo squad'. Raising the issue during Zero Hour, the Congress Member expressed concern over incidents involving ‘anti-romeo’ squads and alleged discrimination against people of certain communities. She was referring to the media reports about the UP government setting up such squads in the police to keep a tab on eve-teasing incidents in Uttar Pradesh. Seeking to implement BJP's manifesto to bring about major improvement in law and order situation and ensure safety for women, the new UP government headed by Yogi Adityanath has ordered setting up of ‘Anti-Romeo Squads’ across the state. Ms Ranjan wondered whether it was wrong to fall in love. She said the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh was trying to impose norms on how young boys and girls should behave in public life. For his party, Mr Singh said his party does not discriminate on the basis of caste, creed or religion and the UP government is also committed to ensure effective governance for all. UNI DEVN AE 1743
