Anti-port agitation: Police station attacked, 12 policemen injured

Thiruvananthapuram, Nov 27 (UNI) Anti-port protestors led by priests of the Thiruvananthapuram archdiocese of the Catholic Church (Latin rites) on Sunday laid seige to the Vizhinjam police station, vandalised 4 jeeps, 2 vans and 20 bikes, held police personnel hostage, causing injury to 12 policemen.
The agitators protesting against the Adani port laid seige to the police station demanding the release of 5 people who were booked for attacking those supporting the port and damaging trucks carrying construction materials to the Adani's port on Saturday.
In connection with the Saturday's incident, police registered a case against Latin archdiocese archbishop Dr Thomas J Netto as the prime accused in the clash in which 21 people sustained injuries.
