Antagarh tape episode: SIT plea over voice sample rejected

Raipur, Sep 20 (UNI) A local court on Friday rejected the petition, filed by the SIT, demanding voice samples from the accused, in the much-controversial Antagarh tape episode of Chhattisgarh.
According to sources, the SIT, constituted by the state government to probe the Antagarh tape episode, had filed a petition before the court of First Additional Sessions Judge Leena Agrawal.
Final hearing on this petition was held on September 17 and the court had reserved its order. While passing the order on Friday, the court rejected the petition.
The SIT, while probing the tape episode after its formation, had called the accused namely former chief minister Ajit Jogi and his son Amit Jogi, former chief minister Dr Raman Singh's son-in-law Dr Puneet Gupta and Manturam Pawar, for voice samples.
But, all the accused refused to give their voice samples, describing this notice as illegal. Subsequently, the SIT filed a petition before the court on this matter.
Main accused Manturam, who initially refused to give his voice sample in the court, filed a plea in the court on September 17, expressing his willingness to give his voice sample.
