Entertainment » OtherPosted at: Jan 12 2016 6:41PM Ansari recalls contributions of Travancore rulerThiruvananthapuram, Jan 12 (UNI) Vice President M Hamid Ansari today recalled the contributions of Sree Chithira Thirunal Balarama Varma, the last Maharaja of the erstwhile princely state of Travancore, in the overall development of Kerala. Addressing a gathering here after conferring the Sree Chithira Thirunal National Award 2015 to former Ambassador T P Sreenivasan at a function here, Mr Ansari pointed out that he was an architect of modern day Kerala as he carried out a series of reforms. He was credited with allocating a substantial share of the State’s revenue towards furthering education. He oversaw the creation of several public services like road transport department, power generation projects and irrigation schemes.
