Anna back in Maidan over Lokpal, farmers' issues

New Delhi, Mar 23 (UNI) Anti-graft crusader Anna Hazare on Friday kicked off his fight against non-appointment of Lokpal and the burning issues related to the farmers and their rights, going on an indefinite hunger strike, beginning here at the Ramlila Maidan.
Prior to coming to the Maidan, the social activist paid tribute to father of the nation Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat.
Hazare, along with stressing upon the appointment of Lokayuktas, is also voicing the grave concerns of the farmers across the country, who were in distress due to various reasons.
This time at Ramlila Maidan, farmers from across the country are joining Hazare.
'I have written many a times to the government in power regarding the concerns in the past years, however, there was no reply', said Anna.
He also targeted the government over the matter of fair price fixation for the farmers produce, saying that the ryots in the country were under distress as they were not getting the right prices. Besides, the government was not acting to ensure fair prices, he alleged.
He further said that he would continue this indefinite hunger strike till a concrete plan is in place regarding the concerns.
Elaborate security arrangements have been put in place accordingly by the Delhi Police, in view of the movement.
