Animal Husbandry, Fisheries officials asked to achieve targets

Amaravati, Apr 19 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met with officials from Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department at the Secretariat on Thursday and directed them to set their goals in order to achieve a 20 per cent growth in the year 2018-19.
The officials informed the Chief Minister of their 8 point strategy for the Implementation of Village Fodder Action Plan, Promotion of 30,587 acres of OPGK (Oorura Pasu Graasa Kshetralu) and 15,000 acres of MPGK (Mega Pasu Graasa Kshetralu), Production and supply of 2,000 lakh metric tonnes of Silage and 0.50 lakh metric tonnes of TMR (Total Mixed Ration), Convergence with MNREGA for Rs 200.88 crores, Promotion of 500 Gokulams, Induction of 50,000 Milch Animals to improve overall yield and output which included: The Chief Minister asked the officials to identify the areas having low yield of production and to take help of historical data and technology to increase the production on a monthly basis.
Speaking about the Fisheries department and its contribution to the growth of state as well as the country, the Chief Minister said, “Fisheries contributes 7.4% to the total GSDP of the state . Our state is one of the top 5 states in terms of contribution to the national fisheries production and we are aiming to be number one very soon. The total seafood produce of the country stands at 107.58 lakh tonnes, and our state contributes 21.9% to that total and share is likely to rise.”
