Anganwadi workers seek government employees’ status

Kakinada, Jun 25(UNI) Andhra Pradesh Anganwadi workers and helpers union at its meeting here on Tuesday has demanded the government to accord recognition to the Anganwadi workers as government employees and extend retirement benefits and other facilities to them.

Union honorary president G Baby Rani who chaired the meeting, while briefing the deliberations of the meeting said that it had demanded enhancement of Anganwadi workers minimum wage to Rs18,000 as the recent hike of Rs1,000 was very meagre . It has deplored the decision of the state and central governments to reduce the funds to ICDS and demanded more allocation of funds besides dispensing with the idea of merging the Anganwadi centers.
