Andhra CM meets PM, seeks Centre’s aid for state

New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Friday held meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and sought Centre’s help in fulfilling the promises given during the bifurcation of the state.

Sources said that during the hour long meeting, Mr Naidu pressed for Centre’s assistance in the Polavaram project, which was declared national project.

The State Chief Minister also asked the Centre to immediately sanction Rs 58,000 crore for Polavaram project.

He also sought special allocation for the development of state’s new capital Amaravati from the Union Budget.

The Chief Minister pointed out the issues that the state is suffering as a result of the unscientific bifurcation. He said that the Prime Minister assured him of resolving the issues.

“The PM was very clear and said he would sort out all the issues. It is about hope and and trust in this world. We have to keep pursing", Mr Naidu said after the meeting with the PM.

Mr Naidu also demanded Centre’s intervention to increase the number of seats in the State Assembly from 175 to 225 as committed in the Re-organisation Act.
