Ananya Pandey and Vicky Kaushal may lead Gully Boy sequel

Mumbai, Jan 13 (UNI) The sequel to the 2019 blockbuster "Gully Boy" might feature a fresh pairing of Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Pandey as the lead.
The original movie was helmed by Zoya Akhtar, starring a stellar cast including, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Siddhant Chaturvedi, Kalki Koechlin and Vijay Verma.
The film explored the transformative journey of an underprivileged young man from Mumbai who discovers his passion for rap music and fights societal norms to his voice heard. Not only did the film struck a chord with audiences across India, it garnered international recognition by becoming the recipient of India's new entry into the Oscars arena in 2020.
However, sources claim that the sequel will change the plot altogether and offer a new storyline and characters. According to some reports, it is going to be chaired by director Arjun Varain Singh, who is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the "Gully Boy" franchise. If confirmed, it would change the on-screen chemistry of Vicky Kaushal and Ananya Panday instead of Ranveer and Alia. However, there has been no official reaffirmation from the makers.
