Amritsar Congress leaders join BJP

Amritsar, Jan 16 (UNI) In a set back to Congress ahead of polls, five of its senior leaders, including Amritsar DCC (rural) president Bhagwantpal Singh, joined the BJP here on Sunday.
Welcoming them to the party, BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh said a new wave has started in favour of the BJP and it would soon see "Congress-mukt" Punjab after the Assembly elections.
Bhagwantpal, who led the Congress leaders deserting their parent party, has been three times Amritsar (rural) DCC president and an executive member of Chief Khalsa Diwan.
