New Delhi, Jan 8 (UNI) Superstar Amitabh Bachchan could replace Aamir Khan as brand ambassador of the ‘Incredible India’ campaign of the Tourism Ministry. Sources said the senior Bachchan was the uppermost among the various names under consideration by the Ministry for the brand ambassador of its ‘Incredible India’ campaign . The sources said Amitabh, Deepika Padukone, Akshay Kumar and Priyanka Chopra were the names which are under consideration by the Ministry. However, they said the Big B is likely to be the first choice for brand ambassador. The superstar is presently the brand ambassador of Gujarat tourism and has evoked a lot of appreciation. Amitabh is the key face for promotion of Gujarat tourism which has seen an "upsurge" after he was hired by the state. Late last night, Tourism Minister Mahesh Sharma said Aamir ceased to be the mascot for the campaign as the contract of the agency that had hired him has expired. "It was the agency which has hired him. Since the contract with the agency is no more, automatically the arrangement with the actor no longer exists," Dr Sharma said. Aamir today said he respected the government's decision to "discontinue" with his services while making it clear that he had never charged anything for the 'Atithi Devo Bhava' campaign. "It is the prerogative of the government to decide whether they need a brand ambassador for any campaign, and if so, who that ambassador should be," he said in a statement. UNI AR SW AE 1935
