Amit Shah terms ABVP’s win 'mandate' against divisive politics

New Delhi, Sep 14 (UNI) BJP president Amit Shah on Friday congratulated the ABVP winners in Delhi University Students Union (DUSU) elections terming it a 'victory' of youths' faith in ideology of nationalism and a mandate against divisive and opportunist politics.
In a missive, Mr Shah said, “Hearty congratulations to all workers of the ABVP on its grand win in the DUSU polls. It is not only a victory of youths' faith in nationalist ideology but also their mandate against divisive and opportunist politics.”
The RSS-backed student organisation Akhil Bharatiye Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) on Thursday secured three posts out of four in 2018 DUSU elections. However, the Congress-backed National Student Union of India (NSUI) managed to win only one seat – General Secretary.
Vice-President Shakti Singh emerged victorious with a heavy margin of 7,673 votes, while president Ankiv Basoya won with a margin of 1,744 votes.
NSUI's Akash Choudhary won the secretary's post, while ABVP's Jyoti emerged victorious on the joint secretary post.
Former Delhi University student leader Sachin Singh also congratulated the ABVP winners and said, “The students have high expectations from the elected members and should focus in solving the students problems.”
