Amit Shah should stop insulting Great Indian traditions of sacrifice, martrydom: Cong

New Delhi, May 10 (UNI) Reacting sharply to BJP president Amit Shah ridiculing the emotional speech made by Congress president Sonia Gandhi at a Kerala rally, the Congress today said Mr Shah should stop insulting the great Indian traditions of sacrifice and martyrdom. Ridiculing Ms Gandhi’s emotional speech at a rally in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday, Mr Shah said, "Sonia remembers patriotism when stories of corruption come out one by one. Everybody knows about her love for country, her son and corruption." Addressing an election rally in Thrissur, Mr Shah said, "UPA government indulged in corruption on earth, in the sky and even underground. It was Sonia who had remote-controlled the government. Modi government only said he would trap the corrupt. For that reason, Sonia need not become emotional. However, in AgsutaWestland copter deal, UPA is in the defensive.’’ On the BJP president's remarks, AICC media incharge Randeep Surjewala said, "In his lust for power, Mr Amit Shah is resorting to the cheap tactics of ridiculing India’s great tradition of sacrifice and martrydom. "After Bihar, the impending defeat in elections to the five states has left the BJP president frustrated. Besides the frustration of defeat, the burning desire to take revenge against the Nehru Gandhi family has blinded the BJP and Mr Amit Shah. We want to suggest them that they should stop insulting the great tradition of sacrifice and martyrdom.’’ "Rather than destroying everything out of their political rivalry, Mr Shah should teach the lesson of governance and tolerance to the Modi government,’’ Mr Surjewala said.
