Amit Shah opens Atal Bhavan in Mizoram, launches anti dynasty attack on Lalthanhawla

Aizawl, Oct 17 (UNI) BJP chief Amit Shah on Wednesday gave a clarion call to the voters of Mizoram to throw out the 10-year-old Congress government in the state and also announced that the saffron party - despite its organisational weaknesses - would contest all 40 seats in the state which has predominant Christian presence and for long had a dislike for the saffron party.
Addressing a poll-related rally, Mr Shah brought his favourite 'anti-dynasty' jibe against Congress to the far off northeastern eastern state and charged the incumbent Chief Minister Lal Thanhawla with running "a corrupt" government and also impose a "dynastic rule".
Mr Shah claimed that the 76-year-old Lalthanhawla was trying to install his younger brother Lal Thanzara as the next chief minister.

Lal Thanzara is now the health minister in the state government. Often called the 'Chief Minister in waiting' Mr Thanzara also holds the portfolio of Information & Communication Technology.
The BJP chief ruled out any alliance with its ally Mizo National Front (MNF). Led by former Chief Minister Zoramthanga, MNF is a constituent of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) - the northeast version of the BJP-led NDA.
Formed with Assam Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, known for his persuasive and mercurial politics, as the convenor the NEDA also has other regional parties in the region - Nagaland Democratic Progressive Party, Sikkim Democratic Front, People's Party of Arunachal, Asom Gana Parishad and Bodoland People's Front.
Political observers can read the political message in Mr Shah's categorical assertion that there will be no electoral relation with MNF as that could consolidate Christian votes in favour of the Congress.
MNF leaders in the state have often found themselves in difficult situation for its tie up with the pro-Hindutva BJP.
The Lotus party has been at the receiving end of allegations from political detractors for being ‘anti-Christian’ in this state - also regarded as the last bastion of Congress in the north east politics today.
In fact, there is a political joke too that Mizoram rocks are hard enough where ‘Lotus’ may not bloom at all.
However, BJP leaders dismiss such suggestion. "Nagas are no less religious than Mizos or anyone else but when it comes to voting, 12 of our legislators were elected in the Nagaland assembly in February polls. And that too after we contested only 20 seats," said a BJP leader in Assam.
NDPP-BJP government in Nagaland is headed by Neiphiu Rio while in Meghalaya also BJP has two MLAs and the party is part of the coalition regime headed by NPP leader P A Sangma.
Mizoram goes to the polls on November 28 along with Madhya Pradesh while counting of votes will be done on December 11 along with other states.
In a minor boost to BJP's efforts in Mizoram, former Congress MLA Dr B.D. Chakma joined BJP on Wednesday in presence of Mr Shah and Himanta Biswa Sarma, who is also BJP in charge for Mizoram polls.
The BJP office in the state capital was on Wednesday named "Atal Bhavan".
