Amit shah offers prayers at temples in Thirumayam fort complex in TN

Pudukottai, May 30 (UNI) Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday offered prayers at the historic rock-cut temples dedicated to Sri Sathyamurthy Perumal, Sri Sathyagireeswarar and Sri Kottai Bhairavar at Thirumayam Fort Complex in Pudukottai district of Tamil Nadu.
Shah, who arrived at Tiruchirapalli International Airport this afternoon by a special aircraft from Varanasi, proceeded to Kanadukathan in the neighbouring Sivaganga district by a helicopter from where he reached Thirumayam Fort by road amid tight security.
The Home Minister was accorded traditional welcome with “Poorna Kumbha” honours by the priests of the respective temples.
He offered prayers at Sri Sathyamurthy Perumal Temple, one of the 108 Divya Desams (temples dedicated to Lord Vishnu) and Sri Sathyagireeswarar Temple, a famous Saivite temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Later, he worshipped at Sri Kottai Bhairavar Temple located on the northern side of the Fort.
He was greeted by a large number of BJP party men and locals.
Shah was accompanied by Tamil Nadu BJP president K.Annamalai and senior party leader H.Raja.
After offering worship in the temples, the Home Minsiter left for Tirupati from Tiruchirapalli airport, this evening.
Earlier, Shah had planned to visit the temples during his Lok Sabha election campaign in Tamil Nadu on April 12, but the programme was cancelled due to security reasons.
