Kolkata, Apr 9 (UNI) Ahead of the fourth phase assembly election in West Bengal, Union
Home Minister and BJP leader Amit Shah on Friday held door-to-door campaign at
Bhabanipur in South Kolkata, seeking support for party candidate Rudranil Ghosh.
“Cast your vote for lotus symbol, Mr Shah was heard telling the residents with folded
hands.”
The union minister said, “Mamata Banerjee is losing her earlier seat and our candidate
Rudranil Ghosh will win with a huge mandate.”
“Didi failed to check appeasement politics in Bengal,” he said.
"Sonar Bangla Abhiyan will begin from Kolkata. Kolkata will remain the 'City of Joy' and
we will also work to transform it into 'City of Future'. We will make a Rs 22,000 crore
Kolkata Development Fund for infrastructural strengthening,” the union home minister
said.
"When CAPF is deployed for poll duty, it doesn't come under the jurisdiction of the Home
Ministry. It comes under Election Commission," Mr Shah said.
He said the way TMC has appealed to minority voters to come together and vote for the
TMC says that their minority vote bank is also slipping away,
Mr Shah was accompanied by Rudranil Ghosh, BJP's Tarakeswar candidate Swapan
Dasgupta, party workers and state leaders.
The union minister went around Bakulbagan locality and nearby pockets of the constituency,
police, commandos and BJP volunteers had a trying time in maintaining security, without
disrupting his outreach programme.
