New Delhi, Aug 23 (UNI) BJP today welcomed the decision of the Union Government of raising the creamy layer ceiling for the Other Backward Classes (OBCs) to Rs eight lakh per annum from the current Rs six lakh for central government jobs. In a statement, BJP President Amit Shah said it is a constructive step taken by the Government and through this a large portion of the backward section of society will get the benefit of reservation and other schemes. Mr Shah also welcomed the Government's decision to set up a commission under article 340 of the Constitution to examine the issue of sub-categorisation of the Other Backward Classes (OBCs). The Commission will submit its report within 12 weeks from the date of appointment of the Chairperson of the Commission. The Commission shall be known as the Commission to examine the sub-categorisation of Other Backward Classes. Mr Shah said this step of the Modi Government is the proof of the BJP and its governments about the sensitivity and commitment for the overall development of the backward and social sections of the society.
