New Delhi, Dec 15 (UNI) Amid high voltage politics over Rafale combat aircraft deal, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday lashed out at the Congress for number of defence scams and reminded his party men and women - BJP workers - of various scandals those surfaced from Congress starting from jeep scams to Bofors and AugustaWestland scams.
"......they (The Congress party) have looted the defence sector from the jeep scam back in the 1940s and 1950s to Bofors in the 1980s, the AgustaWestland and submarine scam, among many others," Prime Minister said in an interaction with BJP workers from Tamil Nadu through video conference.
Mr Modi went onto say that the Congress party has over the years also sought to harm the "morale" of the forces.
"All they see is the way to make money.....," Mr Modi slammed country's oldest party and the principal opposition party.
Prime Minister's attack on the opposition party came even as the Congress President Rahul Gandhi continues to direct his tirade against the Prime Minister on Rafale deal and on Friday said: "Desh ka Chowkidar" was "corrupt".
Mr Gandhi also claimed that if there is a JPC probe the alleged nexus between Prime Minister Modi and industrialist Anil Ambani could be proved.
The remarks from Prime Minister also came on a day, a visibly embarrassed government - through the Ministry of Defence, moved an application in the Supreme Court for correcting Friday's judgment from the apex court on the Rafale deal case which had absolved the Narendra Modi-led government on Rafale deal.
The Union of India, in its application, said that its use of 'is' in the sealed cover submitted to the apex court had become 'was' in the judgment. The CAG 'is' to submit its report to the Public Accounts Committee, sources said.
Earlier in the day, Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Kapil Sibal have said that the government had "misled" the Supreme Court by presenting wrong information about the CAG report on the Rafale deal.
PM Modi in his interaction with BJP workers from Tamil Nadu also alleged that the Congress leaders have from time to time slammed army chief and also questioned the 2016 surgical strike carried out by the Army against terror camps in Pakistan.
