Amid cross-voting, 401 MLAs exercise franchise in UP Rajya Sabha polls

Lucknow, June 11 (UNI) Amid reports of cross-voting, 401 legislators out of a total 403 exercised their franchise here today in the Rajya Sabha polls, which was marred by allegations and counter allegations.
After rampant cross-voting during yesterday's Legislative Council polls, polling for the crucial Rajya Sabha elections for 11 seats in UP, too, witnessed cross-voting.
Samajwadi Party candidates Amar Singh, former Union minister Beni Prasad Verma and builder Sanjay Seth, along with eminent lawyer and Congress candidate Kapil Sibal were in the run for the RS seats. BJP-backed Independent Preeti Mahapatra forced the elections as she had filed the nomination at the last moment.
