Amazon bracing up for Festive Season

Bengaluru, Sept 18 (UNI) Bracing up for the Festive Season the e-commerce giant Amazon is pushing innovative measures and newer technologies in its Fulfilment Centres to meet the growing demand.
With over 380,000 sellers registered across the country and 14,000 in Karnataka the e-retailer is infusing technology without compromising on speed and quality and enabling more sellers to register with more than 50 Fulfillment Centers spread across in 13 States for a wider reach of their products.
Talking to newsmen at one of the five Center near Attibele, bordering Tamil Nadu, Akhil Saxena, Vice President, Customer Fulfillment, Amazon India, said such Centers will enable sellers to use local infrastructure, save capital and enable them to grow.
Amazon announced expansion of its infrastructure footprint opening its largest Fulfilment Centre in Karnataka with the view to enhancing customer experience ahead of the festive season.
Spread over around 350,000 square feet with close to 2 million cubic feet of storage space, the Centre situated near Attibele will enable faster delivery to customers in the region. Across the country Amazon has 20 million cubic feet of storage space across the country in Fulfilment Centres.
With the latest infrastructure, Amazon has increased its storage capacity by more than one and a half times since last year in Karnataka.
He said such Centres will enable small and medium businesses selling locally created products such as apparel and handicraft to service customers seamlessly across the country.
It will also provide support to the local economy by enabling the growth of ancillary businesses such as packaging, transportation, logistics, and hospitality across the State, he said
"We strongly believe that we will be able to better serve our customers with one-day and two day delivery," he added.
He said the Center will cater to customer demand for products in categories such as Smartphones, Consumer Electronics, Appliances, Fashion and Consumables (FMCG).
Saxena also said millions of products are currently available for immediate shipping through Amazon’s network of such Centres in India.
'This selection will only increase with the expanding FC footprint and benefit sellers and customers alike," he said.
Saxena said the company's customers and the Amazon mobile shopping app have access to over 170 million products across hundreds of categories.
