Amarnath yatra: Repair work on Sonamarg-Baltal road, Pahalgam route taken up

Srinagar, May 30 (UNI) Repair and renovation work on Sonamarg-Baltal road has been taken up while up-gradation on the traditional Pahalgam route to the holy cave shrine in south Kashmir Himalaya has also been started to facilitate 44-day long Amarnath yatra, commencing from July 2, 2016.
An official spokesperson here tonight said Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon convened a meeting earlier in the day to review and discuss arrangements for smooth conduct of upcoming annual Yatra and directed the concerned officials to make necessary arrangements well in time in this regard.
He said the meeting discussed various issues including registration of ponywalas, labourers, accommodation, medicare and transport facilities, ration, boarding and lodging facilities, drinking water and power supply, sanitation and cleanliness,besides establishment of control rooms at all halting stations. The ATM and communication facilities for pilgrims were also reviewed in the meeting.
